A BIRDSEYE VIEW OF THE GRAND CANYON

OOHHH MYYYY GOOOOD!!! (Think these words in the voice of Janice from Friends)

Looking for an adventure this morning, Larry and I decided to take a flight around the canyon. We had both been here as children, and were looking for a new way to view it. Excellent decision! Our pilot was named CLIFF...how appropriate! We had a PRIVATE flight on a small Cessna because this is the end of their season.

The park is huge. It took us an hour and a half to fly the perimeter. The canyon is bordered by two different reservations, the Hopi and the Navajo. Recent evidence shows that people have lived in the canyon for over 5000 years! The canyon was formed by the erosion of the Colorado River AND the Little Colorado River. This Little Colorado is bright turquoise in color and flows underground in sections. I photographed where the two rivers meet in the middle of the canyon....you can see the difference in the color of the waters! A well known butte or prominence is Hayden's Point.

Incredibly beautiful! The yellow color is the fall Aspen trees. What an adventure!!
