WHAT A FUN DAY!!
Pat Davidson, a Beavertown teacher who retired the year before I did, has retired to Livingston, Montana which is just an hour north of Yellowstone! We hooked up this morning and got the tour of our lives! First she took us to Chico's Hot Springs Resort for a MOST FABULOUS buffet! The road leading to the resort doubles as the runway for the small planes landing there!!!! Watch Out!! This is a place that has evolved from a place miners enjoyed, to a hospital, to a resort that even the famous people that live nearby enjoy!! Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, Peter Fonda live nearby and I understand why....BEAUTIFUL!!!
Next, Pat drove us to the Gallatin National Forest. We drove along the Gallatin River which was just more beautiful at every turn. It was here that the movie The River Runs Through It was filmed. I could just see Brad Pitt in my mind! Livingston is THE Fly Fishing Capital of the World...voted on by fly fishermen!! You need to visit here Steve and Kevin and you too Mike K, and Bob Suter!!!
We visited a most interesting old building, The Gallatin Gateway Inn built in 1927....which is OLD for this region! You have to keep remembering that almost everything man made here is under 100 years old..and most of it much newer.
We drove on to Big Sky.....a MOST impressive ski resort........The mountains in this area were high, snow covered, and had massive numbers of ski runs! Pat wanted us to ride the ski gondola up to the top of the mountain!!!!! Thank Goodness it was Sunday and it wasn't operating, or I think Larry would have gone up up up up up with her!!
Coming home through Bozeman, a most fast growing and trendy little place.....we saw the coffee shop Glen Close owned...The Leaf and Bean.......Honestly, I could move right in here! We drove by the place they filmed The Horse Whisperer......breathtaking!
Pat has the most adorable condo and fabulous art hanging inside. Her two cats are sweet...the one shyly hid under her quilt when we arrived!! See the lump!!! Cookie, notice the for sale sign on the side of one of the condo buildings!!!
A million thank yous Pat for a MOST enjoyable day!! We understand why you are in LOVE with this area!
