A SERIES OF FORTUNATE AND UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

First, the BAD news......'Twas the Wednesday before last, in the middle of the evening, our house was struck by lightning! It was raining like crazy outside!....... Larry and I had just settled in the back room watching basketball on TV and ...........suddenly BOOM! our house shook and our wondering eyes actually SAW big balls of white light shooting outside the window. Larry took off outside in the dark and rain to see what happened...and I sprang from my couch to see what was the matter! Running upstairs, I inspected for damage.... Nothing.....coming downstairs I could smell the odor of...you know that electrical burning smell? YIKES!! At that point all we knew was that our cable was out in one set, but not the others. We called D P and L and they came and said, "Yep, you got struck by lightning." Well, duhh
We actually lost ALL our outside power, and many outlets inside, plus a part of my computer (Nothing was stirring not even my mouse), and other little surprises we keep discovering.... But, hey! it could have been SOOO much worse!!!!!! We are truly one of the world's luckiest couples!

Now the GOOD news......Stitchery had their annual Christmas party at Helen and Jon's on Friday. Helen's tables were extraordinarily beautiful. The Apple-tinis were a hit and the wine was flowing. The dinner was FABULOUS!!!! All the ten cooks were excellent.....Thanks Janie for co-salading with me. We all had fun exchanging and reexchanging FASCINATING gifts later in the evening. Larry and I ended up taking home a bottle of wine and a nifty often stolen gift card to Starbucks..............but others took home interesting birdhouses, hats, and goofy golfball ornaments that no one wanted to steal from them. ..........I'm sure we haven't seen the last of some of THESE treasures!
